She's done it again! [livejournal.com profile] quantum_witch, I mean.

Remember "City of Hurried and Glistening Tides"? Crowley and Aziraphale, up against a wall in an alley, New York City c.1863? Yeah, that one.

She drew it. Um....*yum.*

It's amazing enough to have an artist jump off from my writing once. Twice? Incredible.

Hee! That picture (both pictures, in fact) are absolutely delicious. *licks* But damn, do I love your historical C/A smut. I had missed the one above (again) when it was posted, but I read it last night when [livejournal.com profile] quantum_witch linked to it. And all I can say is: You win at life. Oh yes. :D

Mmmmmmm, so glad you like 'em. Thank you so much! They're intensely fun to write.

You know, I've tried a few times to read that book, and just never was able to get into it. I adore Gaiman of course, but Terry Pratchett just has that particular kind of British glibness that just really irritates me. Same reason I never really liked the Douglas Adams books.

But I really love those characters, and reading your fics makes me want to give the book yet another try.

There were rumors that my man was tapped to play Crowley in the movie version. That would be pretty awesome.

Yeah, the story is that Pratchett did more of the heavy lifting writingwise; he was less busy than Gaiman at the time. I'm just so impressed because I really like both writers (I've been meandering slowly through Discworld over the past year and having the time of my life), and yet they are so different stylistically on their own: collaboration between two writers is hard and they pulled it off so well. But yeah, if you don't like that style it would be tough going.

The thing about this book that really shines for me is that both writers clearly love their characters too.

Yup, that was the plan. Makes sense. And Terry Gilliam was supposed to direct, which makes ultra-ultra-sense; can't think of anyone else really. But there's a big part of me that doesn't want it made into a movie at all...I like my geeky book-based fandoms (which I still consider both the Tolkien-verse and the Rowling-verse to be, first and foremost; the movies are just another kind of fanart to me that I can take or leave [I'll take Jackson's and Cuaron's work; I'll leave Columbus's).

Heee - right after posting that comment I went and got GO off the shelf. I'm on page 44 - about twice as far as I've gotten on previous attempts. I'm enjoying it a lot more this time, for which I credit your fic. Nothing like being able to picture the two main characters engaged in incredibly hot nookie to keep one interested in a story.

Right, I remember reading that Terry Gilliam was attached to the project too. Actually it was hearing about the movie that made me want to read the book in the first place. I still think it would be fucking awesome. But poor Terry Gilliam seems to be under a curse when it comes to ever doing another collaboration with Johnny. Which makes me sad cause Fear & Loathing is one of my favorite things that either of them has done. And basically there is no one else besides Johnny who could play Crowley. Take my word for it - I'm not biased at all.

But then, I think everything should be a movie.

I wonder how Mike Newell's going to do with the next HP movie. I wish they could've brought Cuaron back. But Newell has the chops to pull it off, conceivably.

Terry Gilliam seems to be under a curse period, which is awful because he's one of my very very favorites.

But then, I think everything should be a movie.

But all the books I like already are movies. In my head, that is. And the ones other people put on film with effects and actors and screenwriting fuckups and stuff are just about never as good.

I wonder how Mike Newell's going to do with the next HP movie. I wish they could've brought Cuaron back. But Newell has the chops to pull it off, conceivably.

Conceivably; I'm skeptical. Book 4 is just about where the PG-13ness really starts to ratchet up (in terms of scariness and evil), and that little-kid-friendly cash-cow factor starts to fall off. The studio better be good sports about that.
